Community Based Rural Development

Community Based Rural Development is a participatory approach to reducing rural poverty. It promotes collective action by communities by putting them in control of development projects and programs. Community-based organizations assume important responsibilities in project administration and oversight, and often directly manage project resources. Participation in these organizations can provide the politically marginalized with a voice that enables them to negotiate with government agencies, civil society organizations, and private businesses. In so doing, they cultivate trust and social capital, and accumulate experience in representing themselves. As a result, they are empowered to act collectively, and to become informed agents in the design and conduct of programs now and in the future.

Trees for life

Agrocare has joined hands with Green Hills Group for the project Trees for Life. With the aim to plant 500 trees and maintain them, the project would help in the formation of jungle ecosystem on the Namunaghar, Port Blair.

The other highlights of the project include-

  • Water facility to store 1000 litres of water
  • Digging contours and trenches on the slope of the hill
  • Involvement of nearby schools, colleges and Corporates in planting

  • Livestock and Animal Resources

Over the next two decades, a significantly changed livestock subsector will likely become the most important agricultural subsector in terms of value added and land use. The accelerated growth of livestock production and processing will require far-reaching changes in the roles of the public and private sectors in livestock development. With a strong and growing demand, rapid institutional and macroeconomic policy changes, and a fundamental shift in the functions of livestock, there is a significant danger that the poor are being crowded out, the environment eroded, and global food.

     Rural Livelihood

Rural livelihoods programs are designed to enable the poorest to reach out to government agencies, private companies, and other service providers.
